Google Books

Have you given Google’s book site a browse? It’s not quite the same as wandering through Powell’s World of Books, but it’s interesting none-the-less.

They’re pretty good at following copyright laws it seems.  A search for "C.S. Lewis" reveals only preview portions of the famous author’s writings.  If you click the radio button for "full view books" then you get an entirely different set of search results, most of which are not relevant to what I am looking for.

I think this is pretty interesting and I’m sure I’m going to poke around quite a bit to get ideas for reads, but as geeky as I am, I still cannot pass on the fully tactile experience of a published book.  What about you…do you read on the computer or do you prefer the printing press?

Toshiba to Produce Zune

I’m pretty pumped up…it’s reported that one of my favorite hardware manufacturers, Toshiba, will be the company to push the hardware for Zune, Microsoft’s new music service/community that is slated to be released later this year (but will they make their production promises?)

I wrote in an earlier post that I’ve been a bit of an anti-podite since day 1.  I’ve been waiting for something a little less proprietary, and Zune appears to be it.  How about the social networking aspect of being able to stream content to other players?  SWEET!

I cannot wait for Zune!  I’ll line up to buy one.

Pre-Order Vista?

Amazon is advertising a pre-sale for Windows Vista operating system…suspected to be released on January 2007.  I think it’s a little strange that they are pre-selling this item, it’s not like there will be a shortage.  Amazon must be pretty danged assured that it will be released on time, Microsoft has already pushed back this release several times. I wonder what the charity licensing prices will be…

So are you planning on pre-ordering Vista?
